sheet car

Ideas about how a world with more than three spatial dimensions would work - what laws of physics would be needed, how things would be built, how people would do things and so on.

This idea is based on a "cable car"! the car has a rod with a hole (at one end) that a cable is put through.
The car only moves forwards and backwards along the cable.

Now how about a car that has board with a "chasm" in it (a chasm can penertrate a 4D object without spitting it) through which a "sheet" is passed. this car can move in the directions of a plane, four directions!

The car only moves forwards and backwards along the cable.

Usually it's the cable that moves, pulling the car along with it. Unless we're talking about different things. So in the 4D version, is it the sheet that moves, or does the car propel itself along the sheet? If the sheet moves, you wouldn't have much choice about where to go. Also, you'd need to build a complicated boundary machine all the way around the sheet. The useful thing about cable cars (as opposed to a regular drivable car) is that you can get a lot of cars from A to B, while the people inside can relax, enjoy the view, and not worry about hitting other cars. Maybe Tetronian skiers would prefer a simple cable car to get to the top of the hill.

I didn't actually know that! It was just a thought.
Maybe I just need to give it a bit more thought and come back to it.

I'm not sure if it's true in all cases. I think there are places with pedal powered cable cars. Of course then you'd have a problem with people going too fast or too slow, and no way to overtake.
