parallel vs crossed eye

Postby bo198214 » Tue Jan 03, 2006 7:39 pm

Maybe its not really a 4d topic but largest prime numbers arent either.
So my question is about viewing magic eye pictures.
You use parallel eye mode if you relax the eyes and looking to
a virtual point behind the picture.
You use crossed eye mode if you strain the eye looking a virtual
point in front of the picture.

Magic Eye pictures are fun to study. The parallel eye mode is much more relaxing for me, whereas the crossed eye mode is more strenuous.

I like the trick of seeing a magic finger floating in between your two index fingers, pointing at each other, and held slightly apart about a foot away from your face, while using the parallel eye mode. :)

I just can't see the damn things. I'll buy one later this week and see if I can manage it.

There are magic eye pictures online house :) .

When you've got one on the screen in front of you, just let your eyes relax and move apart, and while still looking at the screen, focus your attention on the background things around and behind the monitor.

Now, focus on the screen again but keep your eyes the same distance apart as they were. Things on the screen should look fuzzy and in double.

Now, slightly refocus your eyes so that you are still seeing double of what's on the screen but it isn't fuzzy - it's clear.

With very slight eye movements while in this clear but double mode, look for the same repeated picture pattern and match up the clear doubles with each other. The 3d picture should jump out at you!

Then comes the fun part of really looking around within it and seeing all the 3d effects! :D

I look at the pictures cross-eyed just for a few seconds and then when I relax my eyes I can see the figure on the page. After I'm done I just blink a couple of times and its gone.
