Time inside a black hole

Discussion of theories involving time as a dimension, time travel, relativity, branes, and so on, usually applying to the "real" universe which we live in.

Time inside a black hole

One interesting feature of time in a black hole is that it flows backwards relative to the exterior of the black hole. This is because time always flows in the direction that entropy increases and since the direction that entropy increases is opposite inside a black hole from outside a black hole time will always flow in the opposite direction in a black hole. So wile relative to us an object in a black hole will fall faster than light, the object in the black hole relative to itself is actually rapidly moving away from the singularity.

Another interesting feature of the inside of a black hole is that it has two dimensions of time and two dimensions of space. This is because things inside a black hole can only move in one direction when it comes to the up down dimension making the up down dimension a second time dimension leaving only two spacial dimensions. And the up down dimension will also flow in the direction that entropy increases in a black hole.

time is an illusion. lunch-time doubly so.

not with standing, one notes that in htperbolic space, euclidean space follows that of a horocycle. the surface of a horocycle, is equidistant from an equal horocycle, some measure larger (or smaller). When one cuts out out an area of the horocycle, it is a larger area of a further out or lesser one of something within. All things feel the march of time measured in terms of their life. The life of ten minutes is no shorter than that of ten-thousand years.
The dream you dream alone is only a dream
the dream we dream together is reality.

Unless they think at the same speed.

Not sure where the idea that entropy reverses comes from. Some theorists believe that black holes destroy entropy, others do not.

Nor is it clear whether the arrow of time necessarily flows in the same direction as the thermodynamic arrow (of increasing entropy). Penrose's new book, "Cycles of time", has a penetrating discussion of cosmological entropy, including black holes.

For a large black hole the curvature of spacetime at the event horizon is quite gentle. It is generally believed that when you fall through the event horizon nothing special seems to happen - you can go on living in there for as long as you can stay above any severely-curved regions of spacetime that might lurk further in.

Many years ago a friend was studying ring singularities (a form of spinning black hole). He said that if you fall through the ring and out the other side, time resets to zero. We both wondered what this might feel like.
