Those are all what are known as "Bowers style acronyms" of polytopes. They started when Jonathan Bowers/Polyhedron Dude (as he posts on here) created shortened names for the uniform polychora and polyhedra so you could refer to the in a faster way. (I mean "sidpixhi" is a lot easier to say than "small disprismatohexacosihecatonicosachoron", right?) I'm not sure how many of the ones for CRFs are actually Bowers creations and how many were names coined in similar ways by others.
It's basically formed by taking the long form name, and shortening each part to a couple of letters, then inserting vowels in some places to make the result something you can pronounce. In this case, a trippy is a "tri"angular "p"rism "py"ramid.
