I have a question needed to be answered.

I am a newcomer to the 4th dimension interest society and therefore i have quite a few questions. I have read some theories and had captivated me and kept me interested in this subject. Now I don't quite understand what the 4th dimension is. I do understand that the 4th dimension obviously a perpindicular direction to the 3rd dimension's directions, but is that even possible. This universe was probably only made with 3 dimensions in mind. According to this website the direction that the 4th dimension goes is Trength. What is trength? The site does not give an explanation on what trength, trong, (so on) is. If anything it tells me what is implied by the definition of the 4th dimension which is still not quite specific enough for me to understand. Now there was a question on this forum that i had wanted to exploit and ask a similar question. The question was "How would we travel to the 4th dimension?". Well, my question is how would we travel to anyother dimension? Are dimensions really navigable or are they just things that we made to make understanding geometry easier? Please answer as many questions as possible. I am filled with interest so please post a reply. Thank you.

You don't travel "to" the fourth dimension. It's not like alabama or something.

One imagines space from the implications of having four perpendicular lines: that is, one stands on a three-dimensional floor, and looks at a wall where there are three perpendiclars.

trength and trong are just someone trying to spin you a yarn. If you're standing up (height) and facing forward (ie time is not the fourth dimension), then everything else is across: you have two width directions.

One must understand the model of the current universe is best explained in terms of a three-dimensional geometry, on which some kind of physics is built.

Well, one explores in the mind, a kind of universe where there are four or five or six perpendiculars, and builds the necessary bits and peices in the mind to play with. If you do it pretty well, and silly things don't happen then you get a fairly compelling image.

The biggest trap people make on 4D, is that it's somekind of over-three dimensions, and therefore must be really special (eg god lives there), or that the fourth dimension is somehow different to the other three (eg trength). It's not.

You can start to get an idea of 4d by looking at the 2D/3D hyperspace relation: you, as a 3D being, become a hyperbeing to a 2D thing, and so you set up a conversation between the 2D being, and yourself.

The idea is to try and replicate the model of the 2D being, because this is what it takes to see additional dimensions.

Ok thank you for replying but what is a 2d being? an example would be great or if it's just an example or figure of speach please explain it because i truly dont understand it. Now the 4th dimension hasnt't been proven yet correct? well here is a scenario that i would love someone to reply and help me out with. So i have a computer monitor, it is 3d (it has length width and heigth). Now lets say that we could see things in a 4dimensional world with a 4d state of mind what would the computer monitor look like? and if this isnt possible to answer then how have we even come up with the thought of a 4th dimension? If it isn't possible for us to interact with because of our state of mind then how have we even made these hypothesies and theories on this and how do we seem to know so much on such an unexplained maybe even non existent subject?

The 2d being is merely an analogy to help understand out own positions. It is difficult to imagine your monitor 4 dimensionally, because everyones grown up seeing everything as three dimensional. It's the way our eyes and brain were designed.

Even if existance of a fourth dimension can never be proven, does not discount its possibility. It's one of many many abstract concepts that can be found. And people seem to believe in a god, with even less to go on then the existance of a fourth dimension.

it was posible to come up with the hypothesies of the 4th dimension, by seeing how things are converted from the 1st to the 2nd dimension, and from the 2nd to the 3rd dimension. From that we are able to imagen what the 4th dimensional shapes would be like.
