A groan related to "the theory of the universe"

Postby mightymrbob » Wed Jun 30, 2004 5:18 pm

OK bob. So maybe it has nothing to with anything, but if it's so pointless, how come it took you so long to notice and lock it? Also, could you not just delete it instead of keeping it there? It "hurts inside" to see it there without being able to do anything to it... :(

Anyhoo, it was just a laugh. Come on! I know this is a fourth dimension forum and everything, but there's got to be some room for humour..? Besides, it was entitled "The Theory of the Universe"! OK.. So maybe I could have just got a picture of a donkey and called that "The Theory of the Universe", it still makes no sense or anything, but it had some techie stuff in it! (The post, that is, not the donkey). :D

Ho hum...

And I'm singling you out bob, you were just "doing your job" I guess, but, y'know. PLEEEEEEEEASE?

Bobxp is not the only mod.

Why wasnt it acted on sooner? Maybe neither of us logged in.

Why not delete it? It takes a lot to get something deleted.

Humor is of course allowed. However, for complete works of fancy, this really isn't the place, and the line has to be drawn to prevent people from basically spamming theories not far different from yours and trying to argue absurd points.

This is the way it is. Mods words are not arguable.

Oh, and just because... locked.

I don't instantly get a phone call every time a new post appears on this forum... ;)

One, alkaline might want to see it, two, posts are only deleted if they contain inappropriate content (eg, porn, warez, etc.)

So what? It has nothing to do with anything. The Dimensional Story thread, OTOH, was related to the forum's purpose.

I'll leave this open to discussion.

mightymrbob, don't worry about the last two posts on the Dimensional Story Thread. Just keep going as if they aren't there.

mods

Postby mghtymoop » Thu Jul 01, 2004 4:04 am

if you want less tyranical moderators come to http://www.wellstonforum.com/4d/listing.pl
we had a tyrannical mod there but we all rose up and now they just delete spam and leave our posts alone, it's also a better format with no bother about login and all posts are orgainsed temporally so there is no need to jump between 500 threads catagorised into three hazy catagories
geosphere says mods words are not arguable, i say geosphere needs to get a life

stand together
feel the fire
blame the weather

Well if it bothers you that much then tell Alkaline. If you're a mod, can you post "sticky" topics? If you want to set a limit or whatever, you could use one of them and just have a message title saying " 'x' number of smilies per post". If you're that bothered. Which you probably shouldn't be. What exactly is the problem with posting smilies? If it slows a pages' loading speed thyen fair enough, but if it's just the crazy request of a pedantic control freak, then it's a bit pointless. And I really hope it's not the crazy request of a pedantic control freak. For your own sake! :!:

No, it's because on some computers with Windows 98SE and Internet Explorer, lots of animated GIFs slow the computer to a grind. It doesn't affect me now because I'm using Mozilla, but it would still annoy some people. Besides, it looks n00bish. And being labelled as a n00b is the worst thing that can happen to you.

Yes, I can stick (and unstick  ) topics, and also make them announcements (which is similar, but all announcements come before stickies) but I see no need to make a rules topic. Everyone round here is reasonable and there's no pathetic n00biness so there's really no point.

OK... Fine. If you want to live your entire life without the inclusion of humour, then so be it. Some of us, however, like to take a break and have a laugh.

Quite frankly, if anyone still has Windows 98 and Internet, then they shouldn't really do anything on the web. And I think Alkaline is busy if he has posted like 1 post in 4 months.

Oh right. SO if we're poor and can't afford an upgrade, and you need to find outon the internet, for example, what kind of beeps your carbon monoxide detecter gives off if there is too much CO in the house, you can't go on the internet becuase you still have Windows 98, so you just have to sit there and die a horrible death/ watch your house burn down.

Well, I guess it is, but by the time u find information about Carbon monoxide through the Internet on a Win98 you're house would have already burnt down.
