Dimensional Story Thread

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to start a story thread, just for fun. Basically, how it works is that each user posts part of the story, the next user continues, and so on. It works best if each user ends his/her post with a cliff-hanger, which the next user can fill.

Since this forum is based on the tetraspace website, I think that we should put Fred, Bob and Emily in the story, as well as any other characters we feel like throwing in.

Groovy! Before we start, did you read the last thing I posted in the "how easy it would be to kill someone in the second dimension" thread?
Anyhoo, go ahead, start us off!

Yes, I read your post. Now, to start off the story:

It was a dark and stormy night! The wind was howling and the thunder was deafening. Unable to fall asleep, Fred repeatedly sat up and lied back down in bed (rolling side to side is impossible in 2D). Eventually, Fred's back became so tired that he was about to fall asleep, despite the loud sounds outside.

But just as he was about to get some badly needed sleep, he heard a shattering sound as something broke into his house!

There, before Fred's very eyes, three cirles with 6 dots next to them appeared out of nowhere! . He stood up on his bed and moved his face 90 degrees to get a better view of the object. (Think about it. It makes sense to me anyway). The "thing" moved...

Then, ten more circles appeared out of nowhere. The ten circles surrounded Fred, and before he knew it, Fred disappeared into nowhere!Moments later, Fred's house was completely destroyed as the (2D) bomb that he been thrown into his house exploded!

Fred found himself in a strange brown world with no gravity. "Where am I?" he said, even then he couldn't see anyone around.

"Be more respectful, I just saved your life!" said a voice that seemed to come out of nowhere. "You're on my table"

"And who are you?"

"My name is Bob, and I have total power over your world."

In future, please try to make your posts a little longer. One sentence per post doesn't advance the plot very effectively.

Fortunately, Bob had a copy of the book "Flatland" by Abbot with him. Unfortunately, Bob was still unable to explain the third dimension to Fred. After a while, Bob grew tired and decided to call it a night. He put Fred back into his 2D world before going to bed. Fred was distraught to see that his house had been completely destroyed. His only solace was that he had bought house insurance.

The next morning, Bob woke up to continue his quest. Ever since childhood, he had dreamed of finding the fouurth dimension. For thirty years, he had searched in vain. But just last year, he had acquired a 6000 year-old scroll. On one side, there was some strange writing, in an unknown language, apparently claiming to show how to reach the fourth dimension. On the other side was Fred's world. For one year, Bob had tried in vain to decipher the mystery of scroll. He had also tried to communicate with the 2D beings (Fred was his latest attempt), who might know something about the writing on the other side. Unfortunately, the "plane people" (as he liked to call them), his efforts at communication had failed repeatedly. Besides, all indications were that the plane people were completely unaware of what was on the other side of their world.

But this morning, Bob had a strange feeling. Somehow, he felt some strange certainty that this day would be different...

Meanwhile, Emily was seated comfortably in her chair watching the commotion in 3D and 2D unfold. She saw what Bob had done to Fred and decided that she would, much like before when she stole from Bob's seemingly unlockable safe, to get Bob back.
She began to hatch a plan...

Please try to make your posts follow on logically from the previous posts (sorry I'm asking so many things). It helps to make the story more coherent. Remember, this story is not necessarily dependent on what happened on the tetraspace website (except perhaps that Fred, Bob and Emily should appear somewhere); but definitely dependent on previous posts.

I'll try to patch things up this time.

In fact, Emily had known about Bob's search for the fourth dimension for quite some time. One year ago, she removed the ancient scroll from its burial place, over a hundred meters below the ground (although she knew neither who the original author of the scroll was, nor how to decipher the writing). Then, to tantalize Bob, she had taken $1000 out of Bob's safe and put in a much more valuable prize, the scroll itself. Now, she decided to spur Bob's quest on in an even more dramatic way.

Bob was seated at his desk, busily studying the scroll. As usual, he was making no progress. All of a sudden, the scroll rose up into the air and started flashing in multicolor! Bob was shocked, but Fred was even more shocked to see his whole world flashing in different colors! In reality, Emily was only shinning a white flashlight on the paper and moving around a prism. After a few minutes, the flashing stopped and the paper (gently, so as not to destroy Fred) floated back down onto the table.

Unfortunately for Fred, all the flapping had sent him flying out of his plane! When the scroll finally settled down again, Fred found himself floating around in space surrounded by some odd looking walls. In fact, the scroll was laid on horizontally on the floor, so that gravity had no effect. Also, Fred was now on the other side of the scroll, and the "walls" were in fact the very symbols that Bob couldn't decode!
