Did anyone hear about Poincare's conjecture being solved recently? I just found out about it today.

Hmm. Well I guess there's nothing new in the New Scientist article I read yesterday. Apparently the new proof is still being checked, but there haven't been any problems so far, and it sounds like the checking is nearly finished. Oh well, no news is good news.
