The measure of height (or depth), is the one against gravity. The mesure of length in the direction of travel is length or depth (of shelves), Together these make the dimensions of a wheel.
The measures across the axle of the wheel are "across" or width or bredth, for which the distinction is the point directly in front, and radially from this. There is no preferred direction for left/right kata/zeta etc.
