4d Caves

Ideas about how a world with more than three spatial dimensions would work - what laws of physics would be needed, how things would be built, how people would do things and so on.

4d Caves

One really cool thing about caves in 4d is that they could have planar passages as well as linear passages. This is because of the extra dimension that would hold the ground up. The tunnels of caves can have no more than the number of dimensions minus two.

Yep, this is a good one.

More formally, in 3D, where we have our vertical, frontal and lateral dimensions (one of each), the frontal dimension is the direction the tunnel goes in, while the sides of the tunnel are positioned laterally and "hold the ground up" vertically. In 4D, there are two lateral dimensions - so one (combined with the vertical) can be used for the sides of the tunnel, and the other (combined with the frontal) can be used to make vast open spaces.
