Anti-Spam

I have taken a few steps to further combat spam on this site:

1. On the custom registration challenge, I've changed it so you now have to click the second occurrence, not the first, of the letter Z, this might slow down automated registration bots.
2. You cannot use a signature until you have 3 posts.
3. Your first 3 posts require approval by a moderator, this was unintentional, but it seems I couldn't achieve 2. without this happening too. wendy, I hope this is alright with you? Any other volunteers for moderators?

Yes, approvals are alright by me. I have already approved one post, but was mystified by what was going on.

What are we supposed to do with the reported messages. There are six by ICN5D and one by klitzing, all reporting bot-messages i killed.

There's seven on there of messages i have moved, but left these there. Am i supposed to do something with them?

If you click the \!/ icon on the topic/post, you can then tick the "Mark" box on the right, then click "Close report" on the bottom right. That should get rid of the reports.

Latest spam activity is to make a sensible post, and after approval, to edit it to include a link in the text to some website.

As much as it would be cool to live in a world with 4 spatial dimensions, it might be even cooler to live in a world where spambots don't exist.

Normal people are beginning to trickle in. So it looks like the test user is called off at this stage. I was beginning to worry that the restrictions were too tight!
