The theory that the three Cheops pyramids correspond to the three stars of Orion's belt was first proposed in 1994 by Bauval e Gilbert. Once Bauval made this discovery he went on to elaborate on this, publishing a lot of nonsense. But never mind that. What about those three stars?
The paper cited above shows that he was correct. The locations of the pyramids correspond to the locations of the three stars almost exactly. The heights of the pyramids correspond quite closely to the brightness of the stars. And the relation of the pyramids to the Nile is the same as the relation of the stars to the Milky Way, just as Bauval said.
The only discrepancy is that the angle of the line of pyramids relative to south is not the same as that we see with the stars. It appears that instead the pyramids are lined up with the observatory at Heliopolis, which was also the main temple of the Egyptian religion.
