I've to admit that I always have problems fidling out your usage of parantheses.
If I got it correctly, I'd say you're speaking of
Code: Select all
o           x
| 3       3 |
|   \   /   |
4     x    3/2
|   /   \   |
|4/3      3 |
x           o

or, using my inline notation, at least that one could read x4/3x4o3*a3o3/2x3*a.

Am I right?

PS: what's the longuish name, garconit the abbreviation is for?

You got it right! The long name for garcornit is great retrocellirhombated penteracti32.

Today's polyteron is Ratchet - retro32cellihemitriacontaditeron. It is a non-orientable member of the rat regiment, rat's symbol is oxoo'o or ox8o. Ratchet's facets are 32 firps (yellow), 40 opes (green), and 16 duhds (pink). Interesting note: the abbreviation rTchT gave me a chance to name this polytope after one of my favorite video-game characters - Ratchet from the Ratchet and Clank series.

I thought, it might be appreciated to have the according incidence matrices of all these polytera as well.

For spix this is not too surprising so, as it is a well-known convex polyteron. - But stay tuned for those of the other ones, hehe. :D

Great idea!

Today's polyteron is a convex one, and it's a lone operative - Girhin - great rhombated demipenteract. I've rendered the whole field to show how it slants in the various quadrants. Its symbol is ox9x and its facets are 10 tahs (cyan), 32 decas (pink), and 16 grips (golden).

The conjugate regiment is the prin regiment oxxo'x. The most prominent facet is gichado, which turns out to have several zero density cavities inside and therefore generating interesting snowflake like openings into the interior of gibtadin, these can be seen in the sections. I've also added a second link to "zoom" in to the center region of the field of sections to see the structure of these holes better. The verf of gibtadin is a trapezoid-dyad disphenoid which is pictured below.

Well, this one now is much more interesting, as it no loger is Wythoffian (at least I could find a corresponding Dynkin symbol).
Therefore I considered first the incidence matrix of the vertex figure itself. - That one reads:

Code: Select all
Vertex Pattern:
a   b
 c                 g   h
                    i
d   e
 f

6 * | 2 1  2 | 2  4 2 | 2 3  a
* 3 | 0 2  4 | 2  4 4 | 2 4  g
----+--------+--------+----
2 0 | 6 *  * | 1  2 0 | 1 2  ae q
1 1 | * 6  * | 0  2 2 | 2 2  ag q
1 1 | * * 12 | 1  1 1 | 1 2  ah h
----+--------+--------+----
2 1 | 1 0  2 | 6  * * | 0 2  aei qhh verf(toe)
2 1 | 1 1  1 | * 12 * | 1 1  aeg qqh verf(hip)
2 2 | 0 2  2 | *  * 6 | 1 1  agbh qh(-q)h verf(cho)
----+--------+--------+----
4 2 | 2 4  4 | 0  4 2 | 3 *  abdegh verf(garpop)
3 2 | 2 2  4 | 2  2 1 | * 6  abfgh verf(ripdip)

Then, using this for Input, the requested incidence matrix of kafandoh can be derived:

Code: Select all
160 |   3   6 |   6   6  12 |  6  12  6 |  3  6
----+---------+-------------+-----------+------
  2 | 240   * |   0   2   4 |  4   4  2 |  2  4
  2 |   * 480 |   2   1   2 |  2   4  2 |  2  3
----+---------+-------------+-----------+------
  4 |   0   4 | 240   *   * |  0   2  1 |  1  2  (base-x of verf)
  4 |   2   2 |   * 240   * |  2   2  0 |  2  2  (lacing edges of verf)
  6 |   3   3 |   *   * 320 |  1   1  1 |  1  2  (lacing-x of verf)
----+---------+-------------+-----------+------
 12 |  12  12 |   0   6   4 | 80   *  * |  1  1  (cho)
 12 |  6   12 |   3   3   2 |  * 160  * |  1  1  (hip)
 24 |  12  24 |   6   0   8 |  *   * 40 |  0  2  (toe)
----+---------+-------------+-----------+------
 30 |  30  60 |  15  30  20 |  5  10  0 | 16  *  (garpop)
 60 |  60  90 |  30  30  40 |  5  10  5 |  * 16  (ripdip)

Nat then is much more intricate. Sure, being a noble polyteron, it would not surprise, that ist matrix is one of the smaller ones. But again, we should have a look at the vertex figure itself first. - Here is its matrix:

Code: Select all
Vertex Pattern:
a   b              g   h
 c                  i

---+-------+-------+---
 6 |  6  4 |  2  4 | 12  acdfhk,abfghl verf(garpop)

Using that one for Input, the incidence matrix of nat can be derived as:

Code: Select all

For spix this is not too surprising so, as it is a well-known convex polyteron. - But stay tuned for those of the other ones, hehe. :D

Great idea!

Yep, I thought so. 8)

Time to cue Michael Jackson's hit song "It's Bad, it's Bad,..."

And now here is the "bad" one.

Vertex figure:
Code: Select all
Vertex Pattern:
a   b
 c            g   h
               i
d   e
 f

9 |  4  4 | 2 12 | 4 4
--+-------+------+----
2 | 18  * | 1  2 | 2 1  ab x
2 |  * 18 | 0  4 | 2 2  ae q
--+-------+------+----
3 |  3  0 | 6  * | 2 0  abc xxx verf(tet)
3 |  1  2 | * 36 | 1 1  abf xqq verf(trip)
--+-------+------+----
6 |  6  6 | 2  6 | 6 *  abcdef verf(firp)
4 |  2  4 | 0  4 | * 9  abfi verf(triddip)

And then "bad" itself:
Code: Select all
20 |  9 |  18 18 |  6  36 |  6  9
---+----+--------+--------+------
 2 | 90 |   4  4 |  2  12 |  4  4
---+----+--------+--------+------
 3 |  3 | 120  * |  1   2 |  2  1
 4 |  4 |   * 90 |  0   4 |  2  2
---+----+--------+--------+------
 4 |  6 |   4  0 | 30   * |  2  0  (tet)
 6 |  9 |   2  3 |  * 120 |  1  1  (trip)
---+----+--------+--------+------
10 | 30 |  20 15 |  5  10 | 12  *  (firp)
 9 | 18 |   6  9 |  0   6 |  * 20  (triddip)

So, after all, "bad" is not too complicated.

Btw., you might note the general building principle:
The diagonal elements of the vertex figure matrix become the superdiagonal elements of the polyteron matrix. Yes, those describe the vertex figure. But furthermore all superdiagonal elements of the vertex figure matrix get duplicated within the polyteron matrix. This is because the vertex figure of the vertex figure is nothing but the edge figure etc.

Well, gloptin has a rather easy vertex figure. So I omitted that preliminary step here.

Again first the matrix of its vertex figure:

Ten down five to go to catch up (counting today's polyteron), you went through those quick!

Today's polyteron is Gancpan and boy does it look "gancsta". This is the great spinocelliprismated penteract. It is one of seven members of the getitdin regiment - o(o'x"x)x = oGx. It is also non-orientable. Its facets are 10 girpdohs (yellow), 10 gnappoths (cyan), 32 tips (red), and 80 tuttips (blue). I just added the girpdo macros to my sectioning program a couple days ago.

Today's polyteron is Skatbacadint (small skewtrigonary biprismatocellidispenteracti32), which sports the second largest regiment among the non-prismatic uniform polytera, having 133 members plus a few fissaries. Its symbol is xoG = xo(o'x"x), it can be considered to be the 5-D version of skiviphado. Its facets are 10 gittiths (lavender), 10 sidpiths (green), 32 spids (red), 40 goccopes (yellow), and 80 tistodips (blue).

Thanx for the compliment.
So let's continue! This time we have as next mentioned one a convex Wythoffian.

More or less. Those are based on your lace city idea. But those do not show only the special vertex positions, where you usually provide the orthogonal symbol display, rather provide additional intermediate steps.

Eg. here is your lace city of rin (rectified penteract, o3o3x4o):
Code: Select all
o3x4o  o3o4q  o3x4o

o3o4q         o3o4q

o3x4o  o3o4q  o3x4o

and here is hedrondudes corresponding field of section: http://www.polytope.net/hedrondude/polytera/RIN.JPG.

Here is the incidence matrix of rin:

I've to admit that I always have problems fidling out your usage of parantheses.
If I got it correctly, I'd say you're speaking of
Code: Select all
o           x
| 3       3 |
|   \   /   |
4     x    3/2
|   /   \   |
|4/3      3 |
x           o

or, using my inline notation, at least that one could read x4/3x4o3*a3o3/2x3*a.

Am I right?

PS: what's the longuish name, garcornit the abbreviation is for?

You got it right! The long name for garcornit is great retrocellirhombated penteracti32.

Then this one could be calculated as well:

Interesting note: the abbreviation rTchT gave me a chance to name this polytope after one of my favorite video-game characters - Ratchet from the Ratchet and Clank series.

Again first the vertex figure:

You even got a couple extra's (rin and garcornit), I'll need to catch up soon :D

Next come's Rawcax - retrosphenary cellihexateron. It is in the 15 member sarx regiment which has the symbol ooxox. It's verf looks like a triangular tube being pulled inside out as you go through the sections. The facets are 6 raps (blue), 6 rawvtips (red), 15 tepes (magenta), 15 tuttips (brown), and 20 thiddips (green).

Ah, this one was very easy! - Why, you might ask? - Well, I'd done it already way back in January 2002, as this fellow still listened to its former name "rawvdipdopdix" (short for: retrosphenoverted disprismatoduoprismatodiakishexatetron - @Jonathan: you might find it accordingly as msg00289 of that year within the private polyhedron list archive).

To all others: Here is the matrix of its verf:

Today's polyteron is Rin - rectified penteract. Its symbol is ooox'o = oo$x. Its regiment has 11 members including tin from earlier. Its facets are 10 rits (red) and 32 pens (blue).

My second polyteron of the day! Rat - rectified triacontaditeron, aka rectified pentacross. Its symbol is oxoo'o = ox8o. Its regiment has 44 members including ratchet from earlier. Its facets are 10 hexes (brownish) and 32 raps (magenta).

Not too long ago I went through my old notes from the mid 90's, I noticed that many of my polychoron short names has changed drastically.

Right. You even reprovided it. So I've snipped it away in my quote.

Yes, formerly you provided one field of sections every 2 days (more or less), and now you accellerated to 2 per day! - Wow

Klitzing wrote:Ah, this one was very easy!

Not too long ago I went through my old notes from the mid 90's, I noticed that many of my polychoron short names has changed drastically.

I supposed so. :)
Thus I'll keep those oldish terms untill I get the revised ones. (Hope that I can keep track...)

Maybe 0,1, 2, or when feeling festive 3!

Today there are two. First one is Garcornit - great retrocellirhombated penteracti32. Its symbol is (o'x"(x)o,x) and it belongs to the wacbinant regiment which also contains gadencorn. Its facets are 10 wavitoths (light magenta), 32 rawvtips (blue), 10 giphadoes (cyan), 10 gichadoes (red), and 80 tisdips (wood).

Two new polytera for the day, both of them are lone operatives: First up:

Quittin - quasitruncated penteract, or stellatruncated penteract. Its symbol is ooox"x, it is the 5-D version of quith. Interestingly, this one has holes in it due to its quitit facets having zero density regions inside. Facets are 10 quitits (lavender) and 32 pens (aqua).

Next one:

Gaqrin - great quasirhombated penteract. Its symbol is ooxx"x. Its facets are 10 gaqrits (blue), 32 tips (golden), and 80 tepes (red).
