Hyperburg - 3-dimensional variant of Carcassonne

Postby Mrrl » Tue Dec 20, 2011 9:11 am

Hi all,
I've just finished another small project - three-dimensional version of Carcassonne game. I've called it "Hyperburg" because you can consider it as exploration of the surface of 4D planet.
Rules are almost classic with one exception - there is no "farmers" because roads don't divide 3D hypersurface, and instead I've added "seas and rivers" system that is like "roads and cities" with some small differences.
Web page for the game (with download link) is here: http://astr73.narod.ru/Hyperburg/index.html . Game requires Windows with .NET 2.0 - but this time it uses OpenGL, so no DirectX is required.

Good luck!

it's kinda a pain for me to run stuff on windows 'cos only my wife's laptop has windows, but looking at the screenshots, i have to say this is really cool!!!! Maybe one of these days I'll port it to linux when I have some free time (har har).

In one of forums somebody said that "in WinE it works". So may be you don't need to port it...

Hmm, I tried running it under wine, and it says to install Mono for Windows first, so I did, but afterwards all I got was:
Code: Select all
Cannot open assembly 'Hyperburg.exe': No such file or directory.

OK, so I found out that it's a path setting problem. But now that I got the paths working, I get this:

Code: Select all
wine: Call from 0x7b8458e0 to unimplemented function gdiplus.dll.GdipCreateFontFamilyFromName, aborting
err:seh:setup_exception_record stack overflow 1780 bytes in thread 0018 eip f747c13a esp 00420c3c stack 0x420000-0x421000-0x620000

Seems hopeless to fix in wine. :(
