Victoria park playground:
What is the nearest polytope that describe this shape? (The core/closest part in 4D is a truncated icosahedron btw)

The steel truss curves into an icosahedron, but the blue parts make no sense (there are vertices with 3 edges on it), so it isn't a polychoron, rather a disconnected figure. You might be looking into an icosahedral pyramidal subdivision of the truncated 600-cell (tex).

Yes, indeed, nowadays there are lots of playgrounds with polyhedral trusses and some spanned in ropes for kids to climb therin.
I even remember that at my childhood there have been playgrounds with trusses of stacked cubes, mostly in pyramidal arrangement.
