Hyper-sphere volume

Postby wintersolstice » Tue Aug 18, 2009 10:46 am

I hope this is the right forum (I new this board)

I've tried all sorts to prove the formula for the volume of a hyper-shere (not just for whole numbers, in case you're wondering I've seen mention that the max volume for a Hyper-sphere doesn't happen in a whole number of dimensions)

I've also searched the internet but all it does is give me the formula (I want the proof!)

Can someone help me on this? I would be very grateful.

The general formula comes from integrating N-2 and 2 dimensional spheres in spheric product.

The result is pi^(n/2) / factorial(n/2). This can be integrated for real values and has a maximum value around 5.7 dimensions.

People may consider as God the beings of finite higher dimensions,
though in truth, God has infinite dimensions
