Actual 4D visualization possible?

Postby quickfur » Thu Sep 03, 2009 6:22 pm

Hey kids, long time no see!

Just stumbled across this today:

http://www.mrn.org/latest/brain-imaging ... ker-cortex

Particularly interesting is the part about "a growing body of scientific evidence showing that the brain can change with stimulation and is in striking contrast with the pervasive and only-recently outmoded belief that our brain’s structure is fixed". Does that mean that, if stimulated in the right ways, the brain could potentially develop a facility to actually visualize 4D? Say, we invent some kind of cybernetic interface that stimulates the brain until it develops a "4D eye" hooked up to a feed that sends computer-generated 3D projections of 4D objects?

The stimulus from the eye is two-dimensional. We even learn three-dimensional prospective.

You are not going to see directly what is being seen, unless one already understands it. That is, sight is half in the mind and half in the eye. When one appreciates this, then even ordinary three dimensional objects can serve the role of 4d.
The dream you dream alone is only a dream
the dream we dream together is reality.

I'm still quite sure it's possible, given enough understanding of the brain. The link is dead now though so I can't comment on the article.
